Processional Rhythms on the frame drum: tambourine and tar, with Tori, Annegret, and Shirsten
— (EST, UTC-05) — (EST, UTC-05)
Throughout time, women have played the frame drum to create ritual space. Layne Redmond, in her book “When the Drummers were Women” describes in detail this herstory, including images that, for many, invoke a deep shared memory. In this class, we will be presenting some simple rhythms on both tambourine and tar, which we hope will inspire you to create your own. We also will be teaching the Persian Gaval rhythm, (which was not included in the live class on November 11.) This is a rhythm that Layne and Tommy taught at her last teaching event in 2013, and it is very beautiful.
Must have some experience playing the frame drum, with a special invitation to our recent graduates of the Frame Drum Intensive, Giving Birth to Ourselves, part I. This class is on zoom only. The class will be recorded if you cannot attend live, and/or if you wish to continue to practice with it. The fee for the class is $50 via Venmo. Please contact Annegret for that option annegret@maine.rr.com or $55 via our website-PayPal, Debit or Credit card. (Click the green button below)
