Come to Woman Soul and hold this prayer with us. We plan on being there.
NEW YEARS PRAYER 2015
May we be open to what has always been.
May the silence of what is no longer, cannot be and is gone, shield us from a dark thunder.
May we be surprised.
May we wonder.
May we imagine.
May we feel bewildered, awed and turned around – all within the swirl of one simple moment.
May we bow at the omnificent power of grief and the depth of the human heart.
May we show reverence.
May we be stilled by gentleness and moved by beauty.
May we learn life.
May we feel promise as we embrace hope beyond any reason.
May the child’s voice become our lullaby as we rest .
May we know the prayer for our future, is shaped by an old one’s sigh in the dark night.
May the intricacies of our understanding become a veil of fine lace.
May we be kind to each other in moments of our uncertainty
May we move forward together like a wave of clear intention– angels with wings wide opened.
May we let the storms fall away, time flow and let the sun rise as we sing “Let it be so”.
“Let it be so”

I was so fortunate to have participated in the recent Climate March in NYC on September 21.  I traveled with one of the Sierra Club buses that left from Portland.  It was a life changing experience, so inspiring and hopeful.  There were an estimated 400,000 people who gathered for the March.  The spirit was festive and energized, people were networking and sharing their stories and information with each other as we marched together.

At 12:58 there was a call for 2 minutes of silence to honor those who have been suffering from the effects of climate change, and at 1:00 to make a lot of noise, to “sound the climate alarm”, to honor the Earth with a big sound of our voices, noise makers, and musical instruments.

What a powerful experience, to hold silence, people linking up their hands or holding two fingers in the air, making the sign of peace.  I was positioned at the tail end of the march, and when we sounded the climate alarm it was like being in a river of thousands of human beings, hearing the sound of voices like a great wave come roaring down through the crowd until it lifted up my own voice.  Incredible, so powerful, it brought tears to my eyes.

I was deeply impressed and inspired at all the planning and the organization that went into the march, all the details, all the volunteers. That in itself gives me much hope for the possibilities for positive changes that are needed to heal and support the Earth: we CAN organize and work together effectively, and mobilize thousands of people.

Along the route were large TV screens that showed videos of other marches and gatherings occurring all over the world in support of Climate Change:  London, Paris, New Delhi, Sydney, etc. and it made me aware of this vast network of human beings all rallying to take care of our planet.

As a musician, I was also reminded how important and helpful and uplifting music is for the work we do, and for energizing such events. Among the marchers were many groups of drummers and singers.  One of my favorite groups was Reverend Billy’s (The Church of Stop Shopping) gospel choir of Bees.  They were really fun!  I had packed a shaker, a pandeiro, and an agogo bell, and had a great time joining in with the music. It was very joyful, even as we were speaking out and addressing very serious issues and concerns.Peoples Climate March

Hello, Everyone, Its been a while since we posted anything here. However, we have decided to take turns writing to you all about anything we feel we'd like to share. I guess I am going first and what I would like you all to know if that I am very excited to be in the world with all of you. I keep hearing that these times are special somehow. More then other times in history ! ?  I don't know but what I do know is that I am grateful for my life and grateful to be able to spread good news and hopeful visions for a world full of peace, love and joy. So in honor of this week's energy around the fall equinox, international peace day, unity gatherings etc I want to share a friends writing that really caught my eye and I found myself saying yes!!! Breaking News, this just in...

Pangs of Conscience broke out all over the world today.
At first people didn't know what was happening, what to do,
it seemed an unfamiliar emotion.
But slowly realization spread.

Men stopped their fists in mid air from striking their wife, lover, child, enemy
Mothers stopped yelling at their children,
Children stopped crying
Soldiers lay down their arms and bent their heads in humbled agony
People dropped the word 'hate' from their speaking
Billionaires began to give back
People with more than enough went looking for people in need

Heads were bent in prayer
Words were intoned
Cries were heard
"Please forgive me, I knew not what I was doing
I forgot who You are. I forgot who I am. I forgot I am You."

The world grew silent as humbled folk lifted their heads to greet each other.

Arms extended, hands clasped in reconciliation, the world continued as before,
only better, sweeter, quieter, softer, stronger,
laughter replaced anger, communication sparked.

By midnight the 100th monkey was fed, clothed, soothed, apologized and forgiven.

The pangs of conscience turned into consciousness,
People looked with new eyes, turned a new direction
This just in, this just in....
